| Not long after The Threadgill Troubadours
dropped the "Threadgill" from their name, they became Champ Hood and the
Troubadours, and came down to Gruene Hall to continue their Wednesday night
family get togethers. Since these shows were no longer "Supper Sessions",
as they had been called in Austin, Champ often jokingly called the band,
"The Hungry Troubadours".
One night last summer we decided that we couldn't let them go hungry any more, and made the boys a humongeous spaghetti dinner...with LOTS of meatballs.....and garlic bread....and dessert too.....They ate so much that they could hardly play.....I think I even saw Ron close his eyes a couple of times, back there on the traps.......So.... they became the Hungry Troubdadours again..... Gruene Hall thanks Marvin Dykhuis, Ron Erwin, Dave Heath, David Carroll, Mandy Mercier, Champ and Warren Hood, and all of the honorary Troubadours for the music and the joy that you brought us over the years. |
