...to the Bartee News - Online! Here you will find the genealogical data that appeared in The Bartee News which was published from 1990 until 1997. It is hoped and planned that this site will also serve as a forum where Bartee researchers will be able to continue sharing information in the tradition of our now defunct newsletter.

How You Can Help

It will probably take quite some time to get all of  the newsletters online. Currently, portions of all but 1 of the 25 issues are here. Once the information appears on this site, please check it against your data and e-mail any additional information you might have. (Please include the source of this data so that others may verify and document their research!)

Suggestions for documenting sources:

Some of the source information for the data given in the newsletters is a little vague. I hope we can eventually correct this. The source should include enough information that anyone could recognize where this data came from. Follow this link to a website that shows you how to document your sources --- everything from books and county records to videos and e-mail (based upon Elizabeth Shown Mills, Evidence! Citation and Analysis for the Family Historian). The source templates from this website printed out for me as 14 pages, and I carry it with me whenever I go researching to make sure I'm documenting my sources systematically and in a meaningful way for others.
